Zündapp was a significant German motorcycle manufacturer launched in 1917 in Nuremberg by simply Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG and the machine tool manufacturer Thiel within the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau Grams. m. b. H. " as a producer of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau is actually German for Igniter along with Apparatus). The 1st Zündapp motorcycle was the actual model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle regarding everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was manufactured in large series. Coming from 1931 Ferdinand Porsche and Zündapp developed the prototype Automobile für Jedermann ("car for everyone"), which was the very first time the name Volkswagen was used. Following bankruptcy, the entire production line and intellectual properties was bought by Xunda Powerplant Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp motorcycles from 1987 till early 1990s. Zündapp is still running a business, but makes Honda dependent 4-stroke motorcycles and electric powered mopeds.Zündapp also had some sort of technical collaboration with Noble Enfield (India) to create mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory has been built at Ranipet near Chennai in the early 1980s to manufacture small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered with their flagship Royal Enfield Round. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus and also the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (according to Zündapp KS175) was introduced to be a performance motorcycle.
