Zündapp was an important German motorcycle manufacturer launched in 1917 in Nuremberg simply by Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG as well as the machine tool manufacturer Thiel beneath name "Zünder- und Apparatebau Grams. m. b. H. " as a producer of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau is German for Igniter along with Apparatus). In 1919, as the demand regarding weapons parts declined following WWI, Neumeyer became the sole proprietor with the company, and two years later he diversified in the construction of motorcycles.Following WWII, Zündapp expanded into the microcar, moped and Scooter (street bike) markets. The first Zündapp motorcycle was this model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle intended for everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was manufactured in large series. Zündapp's history of large motorcycles began in 1933 while using K-series. The "K" refers to the sort of drivetrain that these designs used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft using two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (a novelty). The series encompassed products from 200 to 900 cc displacement and was an essential success, increasing Zündapp's market write about in Germany from 5% inside 1931 to 18% inside 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 hewlett packard (21 kW) horizontally opposed twin cylinder generator with overhead valves displacing 597 closed circuit (36. 4 cu in). This was the first Zündapp using a foot gear change, and 170 examples were being built. From 1940 onward Zündapp produced over 18, 000 units of the actual Zündapp KS 750. This is a sidecar outfit having a driven side wheel and a locking differential, supplied to the A language like german Wehrmacht.Zündapp also made aircraft engines such as the 9-092, which was used with light aircraft, including the Brunswick LF-1 Zaunkönig (1942) abs initio trainer aircraft.

After WWII the organization transitioned to smaller machines, notably the "Bella" engine scooter, which was a relatively heavy machine for its type. In 1951 Zündapp released a final of its heavy street motorcycle models, but one of its most well-known: the KS601 (this "green elephant") with a 598 cc two-cylinder serp. From 1957 to 1958 the company also produced the Zündapp Janus microcar.In 1958 the company moved from Nuremberg to Munich. Subsequently, the company developed many new smaller models, discontinued the development of four-stroke engines in support of produced two-stroke models. Zündapp experienced some achievements in motorsports with participant André Malherbe winning the 125cc European motocross titles in 1973 and again in 1974. Initially, Zündapp scooters and mopeds marketed well, but later sales rejected and in 1984 the company went bankrupt and sealed.

Following your bankruptcy, the entire production line and intellectual properties has been bought by Xunda Powerplant Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp motorbikes from 1987 till the first 1990s. Zündapp is still running a business, but makes Honda based 4-stroke motorcycles and electric powered mopeds.Zündapp also had some sort of technical collaboration with Regal Enfield (India) to build mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory seemed to be built at Ranipet near Chennai in the early 1980s to manufacture small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered with their flagship Royal Enfield Topic. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus and also the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (determined by Zündapp KS175) was introduced like a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake along with a sleeveless hard chromed cyndrical tube barrel, all were a first on the motorcycle in that nation.
