H. " as a company of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau will be German for Igniter along with Apparatus). In 1919, as the demand regarding weapons parts declined following WWI, Neumeyer became the sole proprietor of the company, and two years later he diversified in to the construction of motorcycles.Following WWII, Zündapp expanded into the actual microcar, moped and Scooter (street motorcycle) markets. The company collapsed in 1984.Zuendap. biz markets markets bicycle and electric bicycles using the Zundapp name and logo design. while Zuendapp.com markets "enduro-sport" motorcycles under the Zundapp brand.

The very first Zündapp motorcycle was the model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle intended for everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was produced in large series. Zündapp's history of major motorcycles began in 1933 using the K-series. The "K" refers to any type of drivetrain that these types used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft having two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (a novelty). The series encompassed types from 200 to 300 cc displacement and was an essential success, increasing Zündapp's market share in Germany from 5% with 1931 to 18% inside 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 hp . p . (21 kW) horizontally opposed twin cylinder electric motor with overhead valves displacing 597 cc (36. 4 cu in). The KS600 was often in addition to a Steib sidecar, the BW38 (Beiwagen 1938). The BW38, fitted with the B1 (Shoe no. 1) sidecar human body was produced between 1938 along with 1941 and supplied exclusively towards the Wehrmacht. While the KS600 was discontinued and eventually replaced by the purpose-built KS750, its motor was to be the only remnant to call home beyond the destruction involving war. When Zündapp returned to motorcycle production in the late 1940s, it chose to reuse the KS600's motor to help power the KS601 having few modifications. The Zündapp K800 acquired unit construction, flat-four engines with base drive (a design adopted by Honda for the Gold Wing in 1974) and were the only real 4-cylinder machines used by the German armed forces with WWII.

By 1931 Ferdinand Porsche and Zündapp developed the prototype Automotive für Jedermann ("car for everyone"), which was the first time the name Volkswagen has been used. Porsche preferred the 4-cylinder level engine, but Zündapp used a water-cooled 5-cylinder radial motor. In 1932 three prototypes have been running. All three cars were lost in the war, the last in a new 1945 Stuttgart bombing raid. From 1936 to 1938 Zündapp produced the KKS500 model. This was the first Zündapp having a foot gear change, and 170 examples ended up built. From 1940 onward Zündapp produced greater than 18, 000 units of the actual Zündapp KS 750. This is a sidecar outfit that has a driven side wheel and also a locking differential, supplied to the A language like german Wehrmacht.Zündapp also made aircraft engines like the 9-092, which was used inside light aircraft, including the Brunswick LF-1 Zaunkönig (1942) abs initio trainer aircraft.

After WWII this company transitioned to smaller machines, notably the "Bella" engine scooter, which was a relatively heavy machine due to the type. In 1951 Zündapp released the final of its heavy street motorcycle models, but one of its most well-known: the KS601 (the "green elephant") using a 598 cc two-cylinder engine. From 1957 to 1958 the corporation also produced the Zündapp Janus microcar. In 1958 the company moved from Nuremberg to Munich. Subsequently, the company developed numerous new smaller models, discontinued the development of four-stroke engines and only produced two-stroke models. Zündapp experienced some achievement in motorsports with driver André Malherbe winning the 125cc European motocross championships in 1973 and once more in 1974. Initially, Zündapp scooters and mopeds offered well, but later sales dropped and in 1984 the organization went bankrupt and finished.

As soon as the bankruptcy, the entire production series and intellectual properties was bought by Xunda Generator Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp bikes from 1987 till the first 1990s. Zündapp is still in operation, but makes Honda centered 4-stroke motorcycles and electric powered mopeds.Zündapp also had some sort of technical collaboration with Royal Enfield (India) to create mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory was built at Ranipet near Chennai inside the early 1980s to production small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered along with their flagship Royal Enfield Round. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus as well as the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (according to Zündapp KS175) was introduced to be a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake along with a sleeveless hard chromed cyndrical tube barrel, all were a first on a motorcycle in that land.
