Zündapp was a significant German motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1917 in Nuremberg simply by Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG and the machine tool manufacturer Thiel within the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau Gary the gadget guy. m. b. H. " as a company of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau is actually German for Igniter as well as Apparatus). In 1919, as the demand intended for weapons parts declined following WWI, Neumeyer became the sole proprietor in the company, and two years later he diversified into the construction of motorcycles.Following WWII, Zündapp expanded into the actual microcar, moped and Scooter (street motorcycle) markets. The company collapsed within 1984.Zuendap. biz markets markets bike and electric bicycles with all the Zundapp name and company logo. while Zuendapp.com markets "enduro-sport" motorcycles under the Zundapp brand.

The first Zündapp motorcycle was the actual model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle regarding everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was produced in large series. Zündapp's history of hefty motorcycles began in 1933 while using K-series. The "K" refers to the drivetrain that these versions used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft along with two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (a novelty). The series encompassed products from 200 to 900 cc displacement and was a significant success, increasing Zündapp's market discuss in Germany from 5% throughout 1931 to 18% inside 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 h . p . (21 kW) width wise opposed twin cylinder motor with overhead valves displacing 597 cc (36. 4 cu in). The KS600 was often coupled with a Steib sidecar, the BW38 (Beiwagen 1938). The BW38, fitted with the B1 (Boot no. 1) sidecar body was produced between 1938 along with 1941 and supplied exclusively towards Wehrmacht. While the KS600 was discontinued and ultimately replaced by the purpose-built KS750, its motor was for being the only remnant to live beyond the destruction regarding war. When Zündapp returned to motorcycle production inside the late 1940s, it chose to recycle the KS600's motor to help power the KS601 having few modifications. The Zündapp K800 acquired unit construction, flat-four engines with base drive (a layout adopted by Honda to the Gold Wing in 1974) and were the only 4-cylinder machines used from the German armed forces throughout WWII.

From 1931 Ferdinand Porsche and Zündapp developed the prototype Vehicle für Jedermann ("car pertaining to everyone"), which was the very first time that the name Volkswagen has been used. Porsche preferred the 4-cylinder toned engine, but Zündapp used some sort of water-cooled 5-cylinder radial engine. In 1932 three prototypes were running. All three cars were lost over the war, the last in any 1945 Stuttgart bombing raid. From 1936 to 1938 Zündapp generated the KKS500 model. This was the first Zündapp which has a foot gear change, and 170 examples have been built. From 1940 onward Zündapp produced greater than 18, 000 units of this Zündapp KS 750. This is a sidecar outfit that has a driven side wheel as well as a locking differential, supplied to the German born Wehrmacht.Zündapp also made aircraft engines such as the 9-092, which was used throughout light aircraft, including the Brunswick LF-1 Zaunkönig (1942) ab initio trainer aircraft.

After WWII the organization transitioned to smaller products, notably the "Bella" powerplant scooter, which was a relatively heavy machine for its type. In 1951 Zündapp released the past of its heavy motorbike models, but one of its most well-known: the KS601 (the "green elephant") using a 598 cc two-cylinder serp. From 1957 to 1958 the organization also produced the Zündapp Janus microcar. In 1958 the business moved from Nuremberg in order to Munich. Subsequently, the company developed a number of new smaller models, discontinued the development of four-stroke engines and only produced two-stroke models. Zündapp experienced some good results in motorsports with riders André Malherbe winning the actual 125cc European motocross titles in 1973 and again in 1974. Initially, Zündapp scooters and mopeds sold well, but later sales declined and in 1984 the business went bankrupt and finished.

Following your bankruptcy, the entire production line and intellectual properties had been bought by Xunda Generator Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp bicycles from 1987 till early 1990s. Zündapp is still running a business, but makes Honda centered 4-stroke motorcycles and power mopeds.Zündapp also had any technical collaboration with Regal Enfield (India) to build mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory had been built at Ranipet near Chennai inside early 1980s to create small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered with their flagship Royal Enfield Topic. Enfield launched two 50 cc motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus plus the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (based on Zündapp KS175) was introduced to be a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake and a sleeveless hard chromed canister barrel, all were a first with a motorcycle in that land.
