H. " as a manufacturer of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau is usually German for Igniter and also Apparatus). In 1919, as the demand intended for weapons parts declined right after WWI, Neumeyer became the sole proprietor with the company, and two years later he diversified into the construction of motorcycles.Following WWII, Zündapp expanded into the particular microcar, moped and Scooter (bike) markets. The very first Zündapp motorcycle was your model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle pertaining to everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was stated in large series. Zündapp's history of heavy motorcycles began in 1933 while using K-series. The "K" refers to the sort of drivetrain that these versions used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft having two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (then a novelty). The series encompassed designs from 200 to 900 cc displacement and was a significant success, increasing Zündapp's market write about in Germany from 5% with 1931 to 18% in 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 h . p . (21 kW) width wise opposed twin cylinder electric motor with overhead valves displacing 597 closed circuit (36. 4 cu in). The KS600 was often along with a Steib sidecar, the BW38 (Beiwagen 1938). The BW38, fitted with the B1 (Footwear no. 1) sidecar human body was produced between 1938 along with 1941 and supplied exclusively towards Wehrmacht. While the KS600 was discontinued and ultimately replaced by the purpose-built KS750, its motor was to get the only remnant to live beyond the destruction connected with war. When Zündapp returned to motorcycle production within the late 1940s, it chose to reuse the KS600's motor to help power the KS601 using few modifications. The Zündapp K800 got unit construction, flat-four engines with canal drive (a format adopted by Honda with the Gold Wing in 1974) and were the only 4-cylinder machines used from the German armed forces in WWII.

From 1931 Ferdinand Porsche in addition to Zündapp developed the prototype Auto für Jedermann ("car intended for everyone"), which was the first-time the name Volkswagen has been used. Porsche preferred the 4-cylinder smooth engine, but Zündapp used the water-cooled 5-cylinder radial powerplant. In 1932 three prototypes ended up running. All three cars were lost over the war, the last in a 1945 Stuttgart bombing raid. From 1936 to 1938 Zündapp generated the KKS500 model. This was the first Zündapp having a foot gear change, and 170 examples were being built. From 1940 onward Zündapp produced greater than 18, 000 units of the particular Zündapp KS 750. This is a sidecar outfit using a driven side wheel as well as a locking differential, supplied to the A language like german Wehrmacht.Zündapp also made aircraft engines such as the 9-092, which was used in light aircraft, including the Brunswick LF-1 Zaunkönig (1942) abdominal initio trainer aircraft.

After WWII the organization transitioned to smaller devices, notably the "Bella" electric motor scooter, which was a relatively heavy machine for the type. In 1951 Zündapp released one more of its heavy street motorcycle models, but one of its most well-known: the KS601 (the actual "green elephant") having a 598 cc two-cylinder powerplant. From 1957 to 1958 the corporation also produced the Zündapp Janus microcar. In 1958 the business moved from Nuremberg in order to Munich. Subsequently, the company developed numerous new smaller models, discontinued the development of four-stroke engines in support of produced two-stroke models. Zündapp experienced some accomplishment in motorsports with participant André Malherbe winning this 125cc European motocross titles in 1973 and yet again in 1974. Initially, Zündapp scooters and mopeds available well, but later sales rejected and in 1984 the company went bankrupt and finished.

Following the bankruptcy, the entire production series and intellectual properties has been bought by Xunda Motor Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp motorbikes from 1987 till the early 1990s. Zündapp is still operating, but makes Honda structured 4-stroke motorcycles and energy mopeds.Zündapp also had any technical collaboration with Noble Enfield (India) to construct mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory seemed to be built at Ranipet near Chennai inside the early 1980s to produce small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered with their flagship Royal Enfield Bullet. Enfield launched two 50 cc motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus plus the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (dependant on Zündapp KS175) was introduced as a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake and also a sleeveless hard chromed storage container barrel, all were a first using a motorcycle in that land.
