Zündapp was a significant German motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1917 in Nuremberg by means of Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG plus the machine tool manufacturer Thiel beneath name "Zünder- und Apparatebau G. m. b. The 1st Zündapp motorcycle was your model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle with regard to everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was manufactured in large series. Zündapp's history of hefty motorcycles began in 1933 using the K-series. The "K" refers to the drivetrain that these designs used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft using two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (a novelty). The series encompassed types from 200 to 900 cc displacement and was an essential success, increasing Zündapp's market share in Germany from 5% inside 1931 to 18% throughout 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 horsepower (21 kW) flat opposed twin cylinder powerplant with overhead valves displacing 597 closed circuit (36. 4 cu in). Through 1931 Ferdinand Porsche and Zündapp developed the prototype Automotive für Jedermann ("car with regard to everyone"), which was the first time the name Volkswagen seemed to be used. After WWII the corporation transitioned to smaller equipment, notably the "Bella" engine scooter, which was a relatively heavy machine to its type. In 1951 Zündapp released the last of its heavy street bike models, but one of its most famous: the KS601 (the actual "green elephant") using a 598 cc two-cylinder engine. From 1957 to 1958 the company also produced the Zündapp Janus microcar.In 1958 the organization moved from Nuremberg to be able to Munich. Following bankruptcy, the entire production line and intellectual properties was bought by Xunda Electric motor Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp motorbikes from 1987 till their early 1990s. Zündapp is still in operation, but makes Honda structured 4-stroke motorcycles and energy mopeds.Zündapp also had a technical collaboration with Royal Enfield (India) to build mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory has been built at Ranipet near Chennai inside the early 1980s to production small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered along with their flagship Royal Enfield Round. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus and also the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (based on Zündapp KS175) was introduced to be a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake and a sleeveless hard chromed tube barrel, all were a first over a motorcycle in that nation.
